World Bowls Rules will apply where not covered below:-

  1. Two trial ends allowed and each player can decide for themselves how many bowls they would like (max. 4 each end)
  2. The winner of each game will be the first to SCORE 21 shots.
The difference between the 2 player’s handicaps is added to the 21 of the higher handicap player i.e. if one player is on a handicap of 5 and the other player on 3 then the player on the 3 has to get to 23 to win whilst the player on the 5 has to get to 21, the difference being the 2 handicap difference
  3. You may visit the head after the delivery of your 3rd and 4th bowl
  4. Dead ends to be replayed
  5. Late arrival. If a player is more than 15 minutes late or advises they cannot play, the game will be awarded to their opponent
  6. Score cards are to be signed and timed by both players and handed back to the competition secretary for verification.

Cabrera Lawn Bowls Club held The Cyril Heath Handicap Singles Competition which is the very last competition in the calendar year.

It was held between 20th and 28th March culminating in the final on the 28th between Paul Cartwright and Tony Wells. The winner is the first player to 21.

Paul definitely started off the better and after 12 ends was 12-3 up. Tony however being the competitive player he is never gave up and clawed the score back to 17-10 in Paul's favour after 19 ends. Paul had the bit between his teeth and wasn't going to lose this final and eventually won 21-11 after 23 ends. Many congratulations to Paul and commiserations to Tony. A very good final enjoyed by the many spectators who watched.
